Name of movie about famine in India?

In the 70s I saw a movie (on American public tv--could have been made long before then, and apparently it was famous) about a man and his wife struggling to get things together before a famine in India which they knew was coming. At the end of the movie some people who know they have food come to their home, then more and more, and the last image was of an endless trail of people coming from all over India to get food from them. What is the name of that movie, do you know? Thanks.
