Sweetie, if you've had counseling but don't know why abusers abuse, go back to counseling. They do it to exert control over you. I was in an abusive relationship for 5 yrs. It has permanently changed who I am. After 4 yrs, I do have my self-esteem back. Have you considered gettting involved in Battered Women's Support?
